Back Pain
How to Put an End to Back Pain and Stiffness – Without Having to Wait to See the Doctor, Without Taking Painkillers, Without Getting Painful Shots and Without Risking Dangerous Surgery.
If you're suffering with Back Pain, stiffness, or an ache - it's easy to think that it's really nothing, and it will go away on its own. Or, you may think you just “slept awkwardly” last night, or that “it’s just a spasm,” or “everyone” your age has Back Pain.
There’s no obvious reason why it happened - but it doesn't seem to be getting any better!
If Back Pain is something that is happening to you, know that YOU’RE NOT ALONE. We hear about Back Pain all the time! As a matter of fact, Back Pain and Sciatica are THE most common problems that we see at PRO Therapy.
When it comes to dealing with the issue of Back Pain, everyone we see wants to know:
"Why is This Happening to me?"
or
"Why Am I STILL Suffering With This Back Pain After Having It For Months?"
Most people think that when they’re suffering with Back Pain, it will magically go away on its own.
They think that they’ll wake up one morning and like “magic” it’ll be as if the Back Pain never happened. But in reality, 4-6 months later still dealing with that same Back Pain, and many times it's even worse than when it started!
Does This Sound Familiar?
Another scenario we see in our physical therapy clinics is that someone visits their Doctor's office, the Doctor suggests to rest for awhile, writes a prescription for painkillers, and says to "come back if it's not better in 6 weeks."
Fast forward 6 weeks, and they’re back in the Doctor's office, usually with increased Back Pain. The Doctor simply recommends a stronger dosage of pain pills and more rest. This is madness and explains why most people just end up "living with" their Back Pain.
Has This Type of Thing Happened to You?
Why else does Back Pain last longer than it needs to? Well, it's easy to get confused because there's always someone who has done one thing or another, and they’re happy to offer different suggestions to help your Back Pain go away.
There’s lots of people out there giving advice - but not all of it is credible.
Maybe you think that your Back Pain was caused by doing something - like lifting something too heavy or sleeping on it wrong - but in reality, it's caused by year after year of poor posture that has resulted in the muscles in your back to become weak. The pain from sleeping on it wrong or lifting objects was just the EFFECT.
If you're not a Back Pain expert, it can be tough to navigate and can often get confusing. That's the reason so many people just accept their Back Pain as a way of life, like it's reasonable to be in pain, “it’s normal,” and it's “just the way it is.”
Do You Feel This Way Too?
If You're Currently Living With Back Pain, Here Are Seven Reasons Why It Could Be Lasting Longer Than It Should:
- You thought it would go away on its own – but it didn’t.
- You went to see your Doctor who recommended rest and wrote you a prescription for painkillers, but they did nothing to really fix the problem, and when the pills wore off, you were back to having the Back Pain.
- Someone you trust (family member, friend, etc.) told you this was just a way of life, and that everyone your age gets Back Pain, so you just accepted it.
- You've tried different healthcare professionals or been to physical therapy clinics in the past, but nothing they said or did seemed to help you.
- You searched the Internet (Google, YouTube, etc.) for different exercises, but either they didn't do anything, or made the Back Pain worse.
- You thought it would be a good idea to just “rest” your Back because the pain was so bad, but all that did was leave you more stiff, tight and sore than before your decision.
- You decided to get a few “massages” in hopes that they would "work out" whatever the issue was – and while they were nice and relaxing, they didn’t do anything to fix it long-term.
Have any of these things happened to you? Can you relate to any or all of them? We would LOVE to help you! Consider booking a call to talk with one of our physical therapists to find out what can be specifically done to help you.
The fact that you've tried some or all of these things is a good thing! That means we know what doesn't work, and we're closer to finding out what does!

What can I do to get rid Of My Back Pain Quickly?
Well, here are four things you can do:
- First, you need to make a decision about getting help – There are so many people who put off getting help for so long because they incorrectly think it will spontaneously get better on its own, and “go away with time.” But 6 months down the road find themselves still in pain, still putting up with it, nothing has changed, with the exception that maybe the pain is worse.
- Do the RIGHT exercises – One of the most helpful things you can do to ease or get rid of your Back Pain is doing the CORRECT exercises with appropriate progression. These exercises are given to you by one of our expert Physical Therapists. The proper exercises will allow you to again move freely and reduce the pain quickly! They will also make sure the problems don't come back anytime soon (or aggravate your Back like the wrong exercises can do).
- Avoid sitting and long periods of rest – Do you ever struggle to get up after sitting for some time resting on your sofa? That's because one of the worst things you can do that adds to Back Pain is rest, and/or sit for a long time. Resting for too long, or sitting for extended periods of time causes your Back to get stiff and tight. Something else that would be helpful, along with hands-on treatments, would be to get personalized strengthening/flexibility exercises that help improve your posture. These can also get you back to healthy and active as quick as possible.
- Get real, “hands-on” Physical Therapy – Physical Therapy has been proven to help people with Back Pain. In fact, at PRO Therapy, Back Pain is one of the more common conditions we see and treat. If your Back Pain is affecting your ability to do your job, keeping you from being active, threatens your independence or gets in the way of spending time with your loved ones – PRO Therapy can help get you back to doing what you need, want, and love to do quickly!
