First Visit Details

Congratulations on booking your appointment with PRO Therapy, you are on your way to living a life FREE of pain!

For your first visit to PRO Therapy please…

  • Arrive for your appointment 15-20 minutes early with your completed paperwork (click HERE to download)
  • Provide us with your referral for physical therapy (if provided to you by your medical doctor, etc.)

At your visit, you can expect your Physical Therapist to discuss the following with you:

  • Current & Past Medical History
  • Current Problems/Complaints
  • How Problems/Complaints Are Impacting Your Daily Activities Or Limiting Your Function
  • Personal Goals/Outcomes You Hope To Achieve
  • Medications, Tests and Procedures

Your Physical Therapist will then perform an objective evaluation which may include some of the following:

  • 1. Palpation - therapist may touch around the area of the pain/problem. This is done to check for the presence of tenderness, swelling, soft tissue integrity, tissue temperature, inflammation, etc.
  • 2. Range of Motion (ROM) - therapist may move the joint(s) to check for the quality of movement and any restrictions.
  • 3. Muscle Testing - therapist may check for strength and the quality of the muscle contraction.
  • 4. Neurological Screening - therapist may check to see how the nerves are communicating with the muscles
  • 5. Special Tests - therapist may perform special tests to rule in/rule out the presence of conditions and/or problems
  • 6. Posture Assessment - therapist may check position of joints, etc. relative to ideal positioning

Your Physical Therapist will then formulate a treatment plan for your problems. A plan is always developed with the patient's input. This includes how many times you should see the Physical Therapist per week, how many weeks you will need therapy, home programs, patient education, short-term/long-term goals and what is expected after discharge from therapy.
